Kilwa, at grance

Kilwa is a historical region on Tanzania's coast, famous for the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Ruins of Kilwa Kisiwani and Songo Mnara, offering insight into Swahili civilization and past trade. Visitors explore ruins of palaces, mosques, and forts, including the Portuguese-built Greza Fort, and can access Kilwa Kisiwani island by boat. The region also includes the modern town of Kilwa Masoko, known for its beaches and local fishing, and the atmospheric, historically significant town of Kilwa Kivinje, a former slave trade center.
