Description
1-Day Trip to Saadani National Park : Imagine hearing the roar of lions against the backdrop of crashing waves. Welcome to Saadani National Park, Tanzania’s only national park that touches the Indian Ocean — a rare and breathtaking union of land and sea that few destinations in the world can offer. Far removed from the well-trodden safari circuits of Serengeti and Ngorongoro, Saadani National Park remains one of Tanzania’s best-kept secrets. With its unique blend of untouched savannahs, pristine beaches, and rich historical roots, this 1,062 km² reserve offers an experience that’s wild in every sense of the word.
This one-day trip from Dar es Salaam to Saadani National Park offers you just that. As Tanzania’s only wildlife park bordering the Indian Ocean, Saadani is the perfect spot to spot rare elephants by the beach, swim in the sea breeze, and go on a classic game drive all in a single day. You’ll depart early from Dar and return by sunset, having experienced small wild animals and tropical bushes, just steps away from the beach.
Day 1
Activity of the Day: Game Drive & Beach View
You will depart early morning (around 5:00–6:00 AM) from Dar es Salaam and drive north toward Saadani National Park. Upon arrival, you’ll begin your game drive through this truly unique park where the Indian Ocean shoreline meets savannah and coastal forest. Expect to see elephants, buffalo, giraffes, warthogs, baboons, monkeys, and, if lucky, lions or crocodiles near the Wami River. You’ll enjoy a picnic lunch at the beach or inside the park.
After the game drive, you will begin your journey back to Dar es Salaam, arriving in the evening.
