Welcome to Prison Island Zanzibar
Prison Island Tour in Zanzibar is a half-day tour, Prison island is otherwise called Changuu island, the name “prison island” came after this special island being utilized by certain Sultans of Zanzibar to keep the adamant slaves. Changuu Island is found around 25 to 30 minutes boat ride with a mechanized framework from Stone town.
You can explore this beautiful island, which is an ideal place for a walk, on a relaxing half-day excursion from Stone Town. The view of Stone Town from the island is breathtaking especially at night. We will give you a short-guided tour around the island. After the guided tour you can swim in the crystal water or explore the glorious coral reefs by snorkeling.

Giant tortoises
Prison Island is famous for its population of Aldabra giant tortoises. In 1919, the British governor of Seychelles gifted 4 tortoises to Prison Island.
The tortoises thrived on Prison Island and it contained a population of 200 tortoises by 1955. Unfortunately, during the late c.20th, many tortoises were stolen for sale as pets or meat.
Snorkelling
Prison Island’s sapphire waters are a great destination for snorkelling.
