Pangani Beach

Only 50 kilometers from Tanga via car, you can visit the quiet and beautiful beach of Pangani. This beach is named after the river flowing from Mount Kilimanjaro to its ultimate endpoint of the Indian Ocean. At Pangani Beach, you will find the innovations of the modern era with recent hotel buildings or restorations.

However, like many beach cities, to keep it charm, Pangani Beach has maintained may of its historical buildings, plantations, and factories which were operated by foreigners, such as the Arabians, Germans, and the British. In a contrast to the busier Zanzibar and Dar Es Salaam, Pangani Beach is a quieter destination where you can relax on the white sand beach or take a swim in the crystal clear waters.

In fact, some of the most popular activities are snorkeling and scuba diving off of the Maziawe Island Park. Other fun adventures include fishing and historical tours. The history of Pangani Beach can be traced back to the sixth century where it was known as a port for shipping slaves and ivory to Arabians and Europeans.
